Porridge is one of the best breakfasts we can eat. It is made from oats, a cereal grain that has been eaten since the Bronze Age. Some foods, such as oats, are high in nutrients and have potential health benefits. They can be described as ‘superfoods’. And what better way to enjoy it than turning it into cinnamon sugar porridge!
Porridge made from oats contains an array of vitamins and minerals including B vitamins and iron. It’s also a good source of polyphenols – naturally occurring compounds found in plants that are antioxidants. They work in the same way as vitamins to protect the body.
Oat porridge is also relatively high in protein. Plus if you make your porridge with milk you will be getting a good source of calcium.
