Frozen Macabella Luxury Hot Chocolate for Grown Ups

Get buzzed and cool at the same time. Yes, frozen treats are nice on a hot day. And, yes, Macabella is also nice on any day that ends in a Y. But just imagine how refreshing things could be if those two things came together. Is your mind blown yet? Lucky for you, boozy icy treats are all the rage and with good reason — they’re delicious. You could of course, leave out the Irish cream liquer if you’d rather. If you’ve never had a frozen hot chocolate before then you must make these!


  • 150ml whole milk
  • 3 heaped tsp of your favourite drinking chocolate
  • 1 heaped tbsp Macabella velvet
  • A generous pinch of sea salt
  • 50ml Baileys
  • 3-4 cups of ice


  1. In large mug swirl drinking chocolate into the milk one tsp at a time.
  2. Add Macabella velvet and microwave for about 1 minute, until mixture is all combined.
  3. Let chocolate mixture cool to room temperature.
  4. Add sea salt and Baileys.
  5. In a blender, add the chocolate mixture and ice.
  6. Blend until ice is completely crushed.
  7. Pour into glasses.
  8. Garnish with whipped cream.
  9. Add a straw and serve immediately.
