How to Make Parmesan & Pecan Sables

This super easy homemade Parmesan & Pecan Sables recipe is delicious and super easy to make!

If your freezer is ready for you to fill with delicious food, this is a delicious batch cooking freezer friendly recipe that’s just perfect for making ahead. The benefits of batch cooking include saving money, wasting less food and spending more time in the evenings with your family.

I hope you enjoy this Parmesan & Pecan Sables recipe! It’s a staple in our house. I make it often to have on standby in the freezer and it’s also fabulous for entertaining.

If you’re planning to make this ahead of time and want to freeze. Just follow the recipe up until the dough stage, roll into a sausage shape, wrap in clingfilm and place in the freezer. It will keep well for at least 3 months. When you’re ready to cook, remove from the freezer to defrost. Then slice into small rounds and follow the rest of the recipe below.

How to Make Parmesan & Pecan Sables

This super easy homemade Parmesan & Pecan Sables recipe is delicious and super easy to make!

Ingredients

  • • 120g plain flour
  • • 120g self raising flour
  • • salt & black pepper
  • • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • • 60g butter
  • • 180g grated cheddar cheese
  • • 180g Parmesan cheese
  • • 120g finely chopped pecans
  • • 2 -3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

Sift the flours, salt, pepper & chili powder into a bowl together & mix.

Rub in the butter until it resembles breadcrumbs.

Add the two different cheeses & walnuts – mix well.

Add the milk – mix into a dough.

Chill for 30 minutes.

Roll out on a floured board and cut into small rounds.

Place on a greased baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven 180C for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Sprinkle with seasoning salt and pepper.

Cool on a wire rack and store in airtight tins.
